Monday and Monday night continues to be a FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY for the potential of strong to severe storms here in NE Wisconsin. Make sure you and your family have an action plan if severe weather threatens your area over the next 24-36 hours. Hail up to the size of golf balls, wind gusts to 70 mph, and a few isolated tornadoes are all possible.
This event will feature 2 to 3 rounds of storms. The first batch is expected Monday morning, especially NW of the Fox Valley. These could pose a hail threat as they move across Northern Wisconsin
A second round of storms COULD develop at some point during the afternoon. It’s still unclear if any storms will form during this time
The third and final round will likely come in the form of a squall line late in the evening and early Tuesday morning hours. All modes of severe weather would be possible with this round.
There will be plenty of wind shear present in the atmosphere that can lead to rotating storms Monday and Monday night. Dew point values will surge into the 60s by Monday evening out ahead of a strong cold front. This low level moisture will help to fuel the storm potential. One thing worth watching is a possible lid on the atmosphere that could limit the number of overall storms in the region.
Outside of the storm risk, Monday will be a mild and breezy day. Some gusts from the south and southeast could be over 30 mph. Inland highs are expected to be in the 60s and 70s, with cooler 50s near Lake Michigan.
In the wake of the cold front moving through Monday night, some light rain showers could linger Tuesday morning before clouds clear out. Temperatures look to fall back into the 50s on Tuesday after early morning highs in the 60s. Winds will continue be gusty but from the west and northwest.
Wednesday will be partly cloudy and seasonable wight highs in the 50s. Lows early in the morning should be in the low to mid 30s. Winds will be much lighter.
Another weathermaker will spread the chance of rain our way Thursday and Friday. Forecast data is suggesting highs in the lower 50s, or perhaps even 40s in some spots if rain and cloud cover is more widespread.
The outlook for the coming weekend looks good with highs in the 60s and plentiful sunshine.
